Distinctive delight: 6 Florence Court, Werribee, 3030

In a quiet court – yet within a 10-minute stroll of Watton Street – this one stands out from other high-calibre properties thanks to its striking architecture. The steep church-like rise of the gable and the curved walls extending from it are wonderfully mirrored inside, creating a house of true distinction.

The drama begins immediately upon entry to a terracotta-toned tiled foyer where, on the right, a carpeted step-down lounge room has a trio of huge windows rising up to meet the soaring pitched ceiling. An open brick fireplace is flanked by a wood storage nook, while crisp white walls bounce around streams of light.

Adjoining the lounge room, a tiled step-up dining area connects with the kitchen, which can also be reached via the entry hall that arcs around past a wooden open-tread staircase.

Stone-effect laminate tops white 2pac cabinetry in the kitchen, which has splashback tiles in a lovely green shade, a Miele dishwasher, underbench oven and 900mm gas cooktop.

To the left of entry is a carpeted study with a curved nib wall, next to which runs a grey-carpeted hallway leading to the three fitted bedrooms and bright main bathroom with frameless shower and a glass-brick window; the toilet is separate.

Two of the bedrooms, including the main, have doors to a long deck that has grape vines and runs all along the back. The main bedroom has mirrored built-in robes, plus a walk-through robe to a grey-and-white
en suite with frameless shower.

It’s worth noting at this point that the entire house is beautifully presented and all German-engineered PVC windows are in casement/tilt style and glazed for maximum energy efficiency – true of all glass doors.

The large mezzanine living room at the top of the stairs has honey-toned floorboards, a high vaulted ceiling and a massive circular window. It’s perfect as an ambient retreat or even a teen’s bedroom.

Large artworks on the back fence and manicured lawn provide a pleasing outlook from the deck, while a cubby house is tucked away in one corner and a garden shed in another. A vegie patch makes its home under a mature lemon tree.

Attractions continue with hydronic slab heating, a split-system and a remote-controlled double carport with a series of storage closets.
