A world of flavours and traditions will be on Tarneit’s menu next month when a new night market makes the area home.
Wyndham council will host the inaugural market on Friday, March 23, on the grounds of the Penrose Promenade Community Centre.
Arts, culture and heritage portfolio holder Tony Hooper is calling on residents and businesses to get involved.
He said the market would embrace tastes and traditions from all over the world, ranging from Ethiopian coffee ceremonies, to henna body art, lion dancing and homemade crafts.
“This is the first time we’ve ever held this event in Tarneit,” he said.
“The concept is to emulate the variety enjoyed at city night markets with crafts, food and music – but with a unique neighbourhood feel, providing local musicians, artisans and businesses with an opportunity to showcase their work while providing residents with free family entertainment close to home.
“With such rich cultural diversity in Wyndham, we have an opportunity to create a unique market experience featuring tastes, crafts and music from around the world.”
