Werribee Mercy Hospital is undertaking a recruitment drive ahead of its multi-million dollar redevelopment due for completion later this year.

The hospital is searching for emergency nurses, mental health nurses and midwives, as well as people who are interested in other roles, such as in administrative and clinical fields.

The positions available include casual, part-time and full-time employment opportunities.

Recruitment adviser Jonelle Mais said the recruitment drive would be one of the largest the hospital has embarked on since it opened in 1994.

“We encourage people living in the local area to apply for our current vacancies or register their interest for future job opportunities,” Ms Mais said.

The redevelopment of the Werribee Mercy Hospital is being carried out thanks to $85 million in funding from the state government.

It will deliver 64 new inpatient beds, including eight critical care beds, and six operating theatres.

The new adult psychiatric unit at the hospital has also been upgraded with 54 beds within the Clare Moore building.

The Workplace Gender Equality Agency has recognised Mercy Health as “an employer of choice for gender equality” for the past 11 years.
