Riverside cachet: 11 Dequin Court, Werribee, 3030

At more than 50 squares under the roof, this custom-designed John Belani-built house not only has generous space for a family to spread out in comfort but also a fab location – backing onto the Federation Trail along Werribee River and a saunter from some of Wyndham’s best schools.

With cream wall paint, grey carpet and timber floorboards, classy window furnishings, stepped cornices and skirting boards and high ceilings, the house blends quiet elegance and contemporary sparkle.

Entry is to a wide hallway laid with floorboards which flow past a carpeted open lounge-dining room, the laundry and a powder room before culminating in the expansive living hub at the rear. The latter has large windows admitting streams of light, plus a gas log fire bringing cosiness to family nights in.

The kitchen, delineated by ceiling bulkheads, is smart and streamlined. It has deep-drawer storage, a big walk-in pantry, a splashback sporting a pair of cute windows, loads of bench space, a dishwasher and stainless-steel cooking appliances.

A retreat/living room up carpeted stairs brings the living zone count to three. Around this are four big bedrooms and the main bathroom which is en suite to two of the minor bedrooms. The extra-big main has a walk-in wardrobe and an en suite with double shower; it also has a door to a rear balcony (as does one of the other bedrooms) which takes in river views.

Indoor perks include a split-system, zoned ducted heating and cooling, multiple ceiling fans, ducted vacuum, double glazing and laundry chute.

Back downstairs, an integrated alfresco is accessed via french doors, and a glazed single door in the family sitting area opens to a paved back verandah – two fine spots for relaxation and entertainment.

The lawn has space for kids’ play or to drop in a pool.

The block of about 820 square metres includes a double garage with internal access, while double-gate side access and eight solar panels are other features.
