Mossfiel Reserve is one step closer to getting a new pavilion.
Last week, Wyndham council awarded Melbcon Pty Ltd the $3.53 million contract for a state-of-the-art pavilion, changes to the carpark and landscaping works.
Works are expected to begin this month and are slated for completion by August next year.
The works are part of a $7.2 million revamp of Mossfiel Reserve that include rugby ovals, a cricket pitch, netball courts, upgraded and unisex change rooms for players and umpires, better lighting and walking and cycling paths.
The state government has put $1.8 million towards the project as part of it’s $50 million growing suburbs fund, which contributes to projects in Melbourne’s outer suburbs. Wyndham council is footing the rest of the bill.
Sports development portfolio holder Peter Maynard said the redevelopment had been a long time coming.
The contract was awarded the same week Wyndham council put out its draft sports strategy for consultation.
The strategy, which details the sporting infrastructure needed between now and 2045, includes plans to develop 34 sporting reserves in that time – more than double the current number.
