A police helicopter was used to help catch a man who allegedly tried to evade police in Hoppers Crossing on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested about 10.50pm.
Police said they had received information that a man wanted for questioning was at a residence in Hoppers Crossing.
Suspecting that he would attempt to flee they had set up tyre spikes on nearby roads as a precaution.
Police said when the man attempted to flee the Hoppers Crossing house in a vehicle the tyres were spiked. The vehicle was tracked by a helicopter from the Victoria Police Air Support wing for about 90 seconds, until the tyres went flat.
The man allegedly fled on foot into a nearby house, where he was arrested.
He has been charged with four counts of making a threat to kill, aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful assault, evading police and careless driving and remanded in custody to face court on July 27.
