Children redeployed to other centres following Tarneit fire

Wyndham childcare centres have come out in force to help families left in the lurch following Monday’s Tarneit childcare centre fire.

Star Weekly understands a number of childcare centres across the municipality have reached out to the families of the 300 children, and staff, from the Kool Kidz childcare centre, which was gutted by fire on Monday morning.

The children have now been redeployed to other facilities.

In a statement posted on her Facebook page, Wyndham council family friendly portfolio holder Mia Shaw said she was thrilled to see the community come together.

“We received confirmation … that the families and staff have been placed in other childcare centres across Wyndham – a great result with local businesses working with Kool Kidz to ensure that groups of children and their staff stay together to provide some continuity for families,” Cr Shaw said.

“Council have offered free counselling for the families of children attending the Tarneit centre to respond to any distress they are experiencing.

“Council will stay in contact with the Kool Kidz to provide support as needed.”
