Teen charged with evading police

Update: A 17-year-old boy from Wyndham Vale has been charged with several offences after an incident in Hoppers Crossing yesterday.

Wyndham crime investigation unit detectives have charged the youth in relation to an incident, which allegedly involved a police vehicle, on Heaths Road.

The 17-year-old has been charged with theft, being a learner driver without an accompanying driver, dangerous driving whilst being pursued, evading police, driving in a manner dangerous, driving at a speed dangerous, affixing false plates and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

The youth has been bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

During the incident, a police officer fired a single shot.

All incidents when shots are fired by police are investigated by Victoria Police’s Professional Standards Command.
