A group of budding actors will spend the next two weeks rubbing shoulders with the creme de la creme of Tinseltown as part of a Hollywood boot camp.
The Actors Studio director Robyn Duse is taking eight of her students to Los Angeles for a fortnight this week to introduce them to casting directors, managers, producers, directors, and voice, movement and improvisation coaches.
Manor Lakes actor Moise Capalb is one of the students heading to Hollywood.
Mr Capalb, who had a role in the ABC series Dr Blake, says the trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
It will include private group classes with Jean-Louis Rodrigue, who has coached A-list actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio; the chance to see Al Pacino perform in the Tennessee Williams play God Looked Away; and some sight-seeing.
“It’s not an experience you can actually get unless you have guidance,” Mr Capalb said.
“For me to go to LA on my own, I wouldn’t even know where to begin. By going as a group, it starts me off on a journey and puts me out there.”
Ms Duse said she was trying to give her students as much exposure and networking as possible while in Hollywood.
“They will be able to have an audition piece and be able to showcase that in front of several different casting directors … in this industry, it’s really big to be able to network and know people in the industry.”
