Bridge Hotel to reopen in 2018 after makeover

Werribee’s Bridge Hotel is set to reopen in mid-2018 with new tenants, a new look and a new menu.

Wyndham council’s city economy director, Kate Roffey, said the council would soon advertise tenders to revamp the former Bridge Hotel, before it reopens as a new boutique destination in the city’s CBD.

Ms Roffey said the new incarnation of the Bridge Hotel would be a “high quality and modern destination offering food and beverages”.

She said the council expects to select a tenant by July, and it will allow about 12 months for the makeover and fit-out.

“This is a really exciting project that will help to revitalise the Werribee city centre and offer residents another great social destination.”

Wyndham council purchased the hotel site for $5.4 million in August last year.

It also bought the neighbouring Werribee Toyota site for $5.15 million as part of its plan to rejuvenate Werribee’s CBD. This site is presently leased to Werribee Toyota.

Four parcels of council-owned land in Werribee’s CBD crucial to the rejuvenation plan will be sold off to developers charged with creating a multi-storey carpark, 300 residential apartments, 5000 square metres of office space, and retail and dining outlets.

Two sites are at Cherry and Synnot streets, and two overlook the Werribee River in Barnes Place and Comben Drive.
