Map pinpoints $1.8 billion Wyndham roads agenda

It’s time to have your say on the state government’s planned $1.8 billion upgrade of Wyndham roads.

VicRoads has released an interactive map on its website that shows preliminary designs for the seven Wyndham roads – including sections of Dunnings, Palmers, Derrimut, Leakes, Dohertys, Forsyth and Duncans roads – ready for duplication and widening works.

A spokesman for Werribee MP Tim Pallas said construction would start early next year, with the works to be staggered over four years until late 2021. The timing and order of construction is still being determined.

Wyndham council acting chief executive Kate Roffey said the council had already met VicRoads to discuss the works, “with a focus on how to minimise disruptions to motorists”.

“Because the package of upgrades is in the very early stages, the state government is yet to provide council with its likely program of delivery,” Ms Roffey said.

“Our priority will remain for works that will reduce congestion on key arterial roads throughout Wyndham to be carried out first.

An investment of $1.2 billion will be made to upgrade roads in Wyndham while $600 million will be spent on road maintenance throughout the west, she said.

“At this stage, it is not known exactly how much of that investment in road maintenance will be spent in Wyndham.”

Residents can ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ the plans and provide feedback until March 19.
