ATAR scores seal the dream at Hoppers Crossing SC

They raise them smart at Hoppers Crossing.

Year 12 Hoppers Crossing Secondary College trio Candice Peart, Erika Bainbridge and Taylor Jacobson-Fisher are all smiles after receiving ATAR scores in the 90s on Monday morning.

Candice, 18, was named school dux after achieving the school’s highest-ever ATAR of 97.85.

“It was a big shock to the system,” she said.

“I couldn’t believe it was actually real … I was hoping for anything around the 80 mark.

“I’d worked hard all year and knew I could probably get something like that, but when it was so much higher, it was like whoa … I didn’t think that was possible, especially with the scaling and stuff.”

Candice is keen to take on a Bachelor of Health Sciences, followed by a Masters of Education, at Deakin in Burwood next year.

Erika, 17, who achieved an ATAR of 92.70, also received a perfect study score of 50 for business management.

Erika, who wants to study law at Deakin in Geelong next year, said she was so surprised with her marks she double-checked her results.

Taylor, also 17, is thrilled that her ATAR of 92.15 is likely to gain her entry into a double degree in social work and psychology at RMIT.

“It’s the big dream.”

The trio all completed a year 12 subject while in year 11 last year, and said the experience had put them in good stead for this year.
