WRFL: Werribee Districts lose home advantage

Werribee Districts are no longer a sure money bet on their home turf at Soldiers Reserve.

The Duncans Road ground was a fortress for the Tigers last season, with seven wins, a draw and just one loss at the venue in division 1 of the Western Region Football League.

The new season is only six rounds old, but the Tigers have lost two of three matches at the ground to be 2-3 overall.

They went down 15.9 (99) – 12.10 (82) against a rising St Albans in a disappointing result on Saturday.

They may enjoy the chance to get away from home for a week to do battle with Port Melbourne Colts in a crucial game at JL Murphy Reserve on Saturday.

In the lower divisions on Saturday, all local eyes were fixed on the outcomes of the Wyndham derbies.

Wyndhamvale took the spoils in a hard fought division 2 game, beating arch-rivals Glenorden 7.14 (56) – 4.12 (36) at Heathdale Oval.

In division 3, an injury-hit Wyndham Suns fought back from 15 points down at half-time to force a 67-all draw with Tarneit at Wootten Road Reserve in the first ever neighbourhood stoush.
