Werribee Centrals a step short of Inverleigh

Werribee Centrals got a first-hand look at the mighty Inverleigh – and found it an intimidating sight.

The Centurions were picked apart by the GDFL Smiths Holden Cup premiership favourites by 115 points on home soil at Galvin Park on Saturday.

The visiting Hawks wasted no time stamping their authority, kicking eight-goals-to-one in the opening term to lead by 50 points at the first break. They went on to record a comfortable win.

The gulf between the top side and the seventh-placed Centurions is massive.

So too is the gap between the Centurions and bottom-three clubs Corio and Geelong West.

The Centurions have a chance to finish off the year on a winning note when they travel to Corio for the penultimate on Saturday, followed by a home final against winless Geelong West.

In VAFA division 4, Westbourne Grammarians remain flawless, notching a 14th straight win of the season. The Warriors registered 50 scoring shots to breeze past Masala by 115 points at WJ Turner Reserve.

Dale Collins kicked nine goals for the Warriors, making it 30 in his past three games and 72 for the season. Collins kicked 108 goals last year – could he be on his way towards another century this season?

Point Cook kept hold of second with a 38-point win over Manningham Cobras at Koonung Reserve.

The Bulldogs, led by six goals to Will Dawson, set up victory with a six goals to two opening term.
