Wyndham walking groups stepping out for life

Put your best foot forward and go for a walk – it’s good for your health.

Across Wyndham, there are more than 17 walking groups that meet regularly and hundreds of residents are stepping outside for a stroll alone or with friends, family or the dog.

Two men’s walking groups have emerged from the Western Bulldogs’ Sons of the West health program, one meeting in Hoppers Crossing on Mondays and Thursdays through to Sundays at 6am, and the other on Saturdays at 8am on Federation Trail.

Wyndham grandmother Linda Norris has launched a new Sunday walking group at Manor Lakes.

“We decided to start the walking group to encourage people within the community to be healthier and to help us in our own journey to getting fit,” she said.

“We would like to see people in the community get out and about, make new friends and improve their health.”

To find a walking group near you or for help starting your own, go to www.heartfoundation.org.au/walking or e-mail the Wyndham council at community.development@wyndham.vic.gov.au.
