Werribee City is on a rampage in Football Federation Victoria’s National Premier League 2 west.
The Bees are unbeaten in five games and have picked up 11 of a possible 15 points.
Their latest victim was Box Hill United, beaten 2-0 at Wembley Park on Saturday after a double from new recruit Shaun Weaver.
It has all turned around for the Bees since Sergio Sabbadini took over as coach. Sabbadini is yet to taste defeat as the team increases its scoring and tightens up defensively.
In Sabbadini’s five games, the Bees have scored 11 goals (2.2 per game) and conceded just five (1.0). In the previous 11 games, the Bees scored 13 goals (1.18) and gave up 34 (3.09).
While there’s a tough trip away for the Bees against top-five east group side Springvale White Eagles on Saturday, in state league 1, Hoppers Crossing’s match with Essendon United was cancelled after a pre-game inspection of the JH Allan Reserve pitch.
Sections of the playing surface were under water and deemed unsafe, and the game will be rescheduled for a later date.
Point Cook had a brilliant 4-2 road win over Spring Hills after a double to Shaun Rodden.
James Varsamakis and Dale Howarth were the Jets’ other goalscorers.
The Jets maintain a grip on fourth spot, just three points behind the promotions spots.
Truganina Hornets went down 2-1 to Newmarket Phoenix to remain second-last on the ladder.
