A Point Cook cat rescue service will fall into another’s paws after its founder decided to take a seachange.
Leah Singh (pictured) will hand the reins over to foster co-ordinator Rebecca Roberts this month as she prepares to move to Ocean Grove, taking with her foster cats Mia and Pearl.
Ms Singh has been rescuing cats and kittens for the past decade, but she officially started Purrs of Point Cook when she took on a foster carer role in 2014.
She now has about 45 foster carers on her books, mostly from Point Cook, and has re-housed 400 cats in 12 months.
The not-for-profit organisation also fosters and re-houses cats and kittens from the Lost Dogs Home.
Ms Singh said she was pleased with what Purrs of Point Cook had achieved in the past 18 months and was sad to be giving it up.
“It would be too hard for me to do all that from Ocean Grove,” she said. “I’ll always rescue, just not in Point Cook now.”
