As a child, Tammy Robinson was sexually assaulted.

“What he did to me caused me acute anxiety, chronic depression and financial loss,” she said. “I’ve struggled all my life to find a way to accept what he did to me, to heal myself and my relationships.”

After a lengthy battle in the courts, the Point Cook resident decided she had to do something to make a difference.

“I thought, I don’t want to live in a world where this is okay,” she said. “I want to do something to help.”

Tammy and husband Ben plan to run seven marathons in seven days to raise funds for Bravehearts Inc, which provides support to child sexual assault victims through the education program Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure.

The program has been introduced into Wyndham schools and funded by money raised in previous marathons run by the Robinsons.

The couple will run the seven 42-kilometre marathons between June 27 and July 3 in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Kingscliff and the Gold Coast.

Werribee Hyundai has thrown its support behind the campaign, by signing on as an official sponsor.
