Najvada George is celebrating another slam dunk … a Victorian School Sports Award.
The 17-year-old Hoppers Crossing basketballer has been selected for the Vic Metro girls’ team and has scored a scholarship to Box Hill Senior Secondary College’s sports development program.
Najvada started playing hoops seven years ago. “I played netball and my parents suggested I give basketball a go, too,” she said.
“I liked basketball a lot more so I gave up netball two years ago.”
Najvada is among 47 junior athletes across the state to have been recognised with school sports awards.
Point Cook’s Tomislav Fadljevic was recognised for his achievements in soccer.
