Save the date: the Reclink Community Champions Run is returning to Werribee.
Founded in 1989 by fourth-generation Werribee resident Peter Cullen, Reclink has gone global, providing an immediate opportunity to thousands of disadvantaged people to take part in sport, recreation and art events.
“I saw people living in a lost world, with no clear pathways to opportunity, no positive way to be involved in the world,” Mr Cullen said.
Today, Reclink provides broad-ranging programs focused on getting people to play sport.
Reclink began 25 years ago as a kick-to-kick program and now involves 10,000 people living with disadvantage.
Its numerous programs involve football, cricket and street soccer teams, yoga classes, tenpin bowling, fishing and golf.
Entry and registration to the Community Champions Run is $25, with proceeds going to support Reclink’s programs. Runners will also be asked to raise funds for the cause.
People looking to pound the pavement can choose to run 21, 10, five or two kilometres.
