Police have charged a Point Cook man and a Yarraville man after they allegedly dumped a stolen car in Preston early this morning.
The allegedly stolen utility was first spotted by police driving erratically in Tyler Street about 2.50am.
A short time later, with the assistance of the Airwing, the dumped ute was found in Eggleton Court Preston.
One of the men from the car was arrested by officers from the Critical Incident Response Team near a reserve on Albert Street after running from the car.
Officers from the Dog Squad searched the area and found one of the men hiding under a house in the street where the car was dumped.
A 41-year-old Point Cook man has been charged with theft, possessing a drug of dependence, traffic and bail offences.
A 44-year-old Yarraville man has been charged with theft, possessing drugs of dependence and weapons offences.
The pair will both face the Heidelberg Magistrates Court later today.
