INBRIEF

Cricket

Wyndhamvale’s confidence is growing stronger by the week in the Williamstown and District Cricket Association A1 turf. The top-placed Falcons went hell for leather to blast 380 in 78.5 overs against a hapless Newport-Digman at Wyndhamvale Reserve on Saturday. Lance MacDougall, an All Star at last year’s Australian open indoor cricket championships, came in at first drop and showed his class with 141.

Baseball

Werribee Giants have plummeted to third-last on the Baseball Victoria summer league division 2 ladder after successive losses. The Giants, who only a fortnight ago were still in the finals hunt, lost 5-2 to Springvale on the road on Saturday. They return home on Sunday for a clash with Chelsea.

Bowls

Werribee was gallant in an eight-shot defeat to powerhouse Moonee Ponds in the Bowls Victoria premier division. But the Bees’ poor recent form came back to to bite them as they slumped to the bottom of the ladder after Lalor and Mentone picked up shock wins at the weekend.
