Tarneit primed for top-of-the-ladder battle

Tarneit breezed to a 127-point win over Laverton Magpies at Laverton Park Reserve on Saturday to move to the top of the Western Region Football League division 3 ladder on percentage.

The Titans and Parkside, the only sides in the division with undefeated records, have opened up a two-game break over the rest of the competition.

Something will have to give when the Titans face Parkside in a top-of-the-table showdown at Wootten Road Reserve on Saturday.

The Titans racked up 44 scoring shots against Laverton, their winning margin inhibited by woeful kicking.

The Titans finished with 20.24.

Chris Benson and Richard Psaila kicked five goals apiece for the Titans, while in-form Adam Miriklis was named best-on-ground.

Wyndham Suns moved up to third with a hard-fought win over Sunshine Heights at Ainsworth Reserve.

Craig Richards snared five goals and Rhys Kirk jagged four as the Suns came back from 17 points down at quarter-time to register an important win.

Sanctuary Lakes is still looking for its first win after going down to Braybrook by 37 points on the road at Pennell Reserve.

In division 1, Wyndhamvale found Spotswood a much tougher nut to crack than last season.

The Falcons upset the Woodsmen last year, but were a massive 128 points behind on this occasion at McLean Reserve.

Hoppers Crossing came a cropper in a 38-point loss to the ever-improving Sunshine Kangaroos at Kinder Smith Reserve.

In division 2, Manor Lakes had a 13-point win over newly promoted Newport Power at Howqua Reserve.
