The Wyndham Basketball Association hosted a Pink Night to raise funds for The McGrath Foundation at the weekend.

An annual event on the WBA calendar, players from the Youth Women and Champ Women sides took to the court in all-pink uniforms for their Big V games during the Saturday evening event.

Fundraising activities on the night included raffle draws, a temporary bar set-up, a best dressed competition, a balloon sculpture and a fairy floss machine.

All WBA volunteers, staff and coaches donned pink clothing for the occasion, while officials wore commemorative referee shirts.

Wyndham Basketball’s general manager Craig Armstead said the Pink Night has become an important part of the WBA’s calendar.

“Our community is proud of Pink Night and everything it has become,” he said,

“It celebrates our female athletes, but just as importantly raises awareness and funding for The McGrath Foundation.”

Speaking prior to the Pink Night last week, Mr Armstead said: “After all the difficulties of last year, we’re hoping 2021’s night will be bigger and better than ever, with more activations and fundraising opportunities than ever before”.

The night began with the Wyndham’s Youth Women team taking on Albury Wodonga, followed by the Champ Women competing against Keilor Thunder.
