The 3029 and 3030 postcodes remain popular with first-home buyers, according to State Revenue Office figures.
The office has released the number of first-home buyer grant applications it received between January and March this year.
Within the 3029 postcode, which takes in Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit and Truganina, there were 207 applications received (compared to 191 in January-March last year).
In the 3030 postcode, which includes Werribee, Werribee South, Point Cook, Quandong and Derrimut, there were 161 applications (compared to 152).
The 3029 postcode placed third-highest in the state for first-home buyer grant applications in the first three months of this year, with 3030 placing fourth.
The 3064 postcode (Craigieburn, Donnybrook, Kalkallo, Mickleham and Roxburgh Park) topped the state with 278 first-home buyer grant applications.
Since 2013, eligible Victorians have been able to claim a first-home owner grant of $10,000 from the state government to purchase new homes valued up to $750,000.
Real Estate Institute of Victoria chief executive Gil King said Werribee’s median house price grew 1.4 per cent between March last year and March this year.
“All Wyndham suburbs have a median house price of between $500,000 and $665,000, which is affordable for families and first-home buyers and the area will continue to be popular for this buyer group into the future,” he said.
“Werribee was one of just 14 Melbourne suburbs to record at least 30 sales in the last four quarters and experience positive median house price growth during the 12 months to 30 March, 2019, which shows that this area is doing particularly well.
“Point Cook recorded the second highest number of sales in the March, 2019, quarter, with 104 properties changing hands according to REIV records.
“This shows that the local market continues to be active with new residents coming into the area.”
