Thousands of people flocked to Werribee’s CBD for the annual Winter Street Party on Friday.

Wyndham’s tourism and major event portfolio holder Cr John Gibbons said the Winter Street Party attracted a record 6600 attendees this year.

“Winter is often a quiet time of year so it’s great to see the city was buzzing, with local artists, businesses and the community all coming together to enjoy their city,” Cr Gibbons said.

“Events like this are not only great for the community and showcasing our local artists, they are also great in supporting our local, independent businesses, and it was great to see so many businesses full and taking part on the night.”

The event included artworks by Amanda Parer,  Carla O’Brien, Hengameh Ghaderi and Imran Abul Kashem.

Fire performances, ice sculpting, live music, snow dome workshops, glow-in-the-dark face-painting and a pop-up video entertained crowds in Station Place, Watton Street, the Wedge Street Piazza and at the Wyndham Cultural Centre.
