Children from five Wyndham primary schools are bringing their own brand of hand-painted Christmas magic to the Werribee town centre.

Students from Baden Powell College, St Andrew’s Catholic Primary School, Thomas Chirnside Primary School, Truganina South Primary School and Westgrove Primary School have decorated some colourful Christmas tree sculptures, which are on display in the Wedge Street Piazza.

Wyndham’s arts, culture and heritage portfolio holder Cr Tony Hooper said the students had painted the two-metre-high wooden trees during art classes at each of the schools.

Cr Hooper said there would be plenty of other festive features in Werribee during the Christmas season.

He said that Werribee library had a special mailbox, where children could post their letters to Santa.

“Just make sure you attach a 65c stamp, address your letter to Santa Claus, North Pole 9999 and include your name and address on the back of the envelope,” Cr Hooper said.

Santa will also visit Station Place every Saturday until December 23, from 11am to 2pm.
