The Grange Community Centre will host a White Ribbon Day community walk on Thursday to raise awareness of family violence.

Participants will walk from the Hoppers Crossing community centre, to the Plaza library at Pacific Werribee.

WEstJustice lawyer Vincent Shin will speak at the library before an information sharing session.

Wyndham safer communities portfolio holder Kim McAliney has encouraged residents to participate. She said the council was in the process of developing a gender equity strategy.

“Gender equity is everybody’s business, and council is committed to doing its part to end this issue – not only in our community, but across the world,” she said.

The walk will depart from the Grange Community Centre, 260-280 Hogans Road, at 10am. At 10.40am, the walkers will arrive at the library, with Mr Shin to speak at 10.45am.

A bus will return walkers to the centre at 11.30am.

RSVP to the centre by calling 9742 8000 or emailing enquiries@grangecommunity.org.au.

The Wyndham Interfaith Network and the Western Region Interfaith Collaboration will host a panel discussion on building equality and respect on Friday from 2-3.30pm at Wayaperri House, 106 Duncans Road, Werribee.
