A popular ’70s sitcom is being brought to life by the Wyndham Theatre Company.

Actors Glenn Baker and Warrick Smith are taking on the roles of endearing slob Oscar Madison and uptight neat-freak Felix Ungar in the company’s six-show production of The Odd Couple, which will run at the Crossroads Theatre in Werribee from May 18 to 27.

The show follows the antics of Oscar and Felix, old college buddies who move in together when their respective marriages fall apart, despite their glaring – and hilarious – personality differences.

Renee Belsey from the Wyndham Theatre Company said the cast had been in rehearsals since late February.

“We did a couple of shows last year which were off the beaten track,” she said.

“We thought, let’s go for a comedy that’s a bit more known. It’s very funny.

“The cast has got some very strong and great comedic characters.

“We haven’t tried to reinvent the wheel, but just bring a fresh approach to it.”

She said WTC was holding auditions for its next show, The Vicar of Dibley, which will be presented in August.

Tickets for The Odd Couple cost $25 for adults, $22 for concession, and can be bought at www.trybooking.com/PKID
