Police have arrested a 15-year-old Hoppers Crossing girl and a 16-year-old girl from Werribee following an aggravated burglary in Manor Lakes.

Investigators have been told a resident at a Canons Court address heard a noise at the front of his house about 2am.

A short time later, the man heard his Mitsubishi Lancer start up and drive off.

When he realised his car had been stolen, the man left his home in another vehicle and managed to track down his stolen car on the road.

The man followed the car for a short while, before stopping to call police.

Police initially patrolled the area and then attended the man’s address to take reports.

As officers were returning to Werribee police station, they spotted the stolen Lancer and followed it into Princes Court, a dead-end street.

Police were able to intercept the car and arrested the occupants.

Both girls are being interviewed for aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle and other offences.
