AquaPulse has again received a statewide award recognising its dedication to safety around water.

The Hoppers Crossing swim centre received the Watch Around Water – Facility of the Year gong at this year’s Aquatics & Recreation Victoria (ARV) Industry Awards, repeating last year’s win.

AquaPulse is a Wyndham council facility managed by Western Leisure Services (WLS).

WLS chief executive Bruce Mackay said the staff at AquaPulse and WLS “felt a strong sense of shared achievement” after being presented with the award.

He said AquaPulse had implemented strategies to promote safety as soon as families entered the centre.

“Upon entry, children of different age groups receive different coloured wristbands, which communicate to all of our team members, including our lifeguards, the level of supervision which is required by that child’s caregiver,” Mr Mackay said.

Mr Mackay was presented with a Recognition of Outstanding Contribution to the Aquatics and Recreation Industry award.

Mr Mackay, who has worked in the industry for more than 25 years, said he was “proud, honoured, delighted and humbled to accept the award and grateful to Wyndham City Council and the board of Western Leisure Services for their support and belief”.
