Colourful is cool was the rallying cry at a vibrant Wyndham celebration held at the weekend.

A large crowd gathered at Wyndham Park on Saturday for the Holi, which is known as the “festival of colours” among the global Hindu community.

The event was organised by the Melbourne Nepalese Community West (MNCWEST) and the Royal Western Football Club, and supported by Wyndham council, Grace International and Goodwill Insurance.

MNCWEST secretary Roshani Shrestha said Holi was sometimes celebrated on a full moon day, which is also called “Phagu Purnima”.

Ms Shrestha said people from many cultural backgrounds attended the Holi celebration at Wyndham Park.

“The event attracted more than 300 cross-cultural community members … celebrated with social and cultural exchange of greetings together, with singing and dancing full of colours and food,” she said.
