A speeding motorist is likely to be ruing his actions after being caught by two high-ranking Victoria Police on Monday.

Police said Assistant Commissioner Mick Grainger and Acting Assistant Commissioner Nigel Howard were travelling from a meeting in Geelong, when a black Subaru Forester sped past them in Little River about 12.45pm.

They followed the vehicle, tracking its speed at an alleged 155km/h before intercepting it on Princes Freeway near Duncans Road in Werribee.

The car was impounded by Westgate Highway Patrol officers.

A 41-year-old Point Cook man will be charged on summons for traffic-related offences.
