Sammy’s shorn thing

Sammy Fullwood has only one more month to enjoy her long locks before removing them all in the name of charity.

The 30-year-old Tarneit resident will shave her hair down to “number three or four” on March 5 at Werribee’s Chatterbox Cafe, having already raised more than $1500 for the Cancer Council.

Ms Fullwood, who has worked as a conveyancer at Callea Pearce Lawyers’ Werribee branch for five years, is braving the shave in honour of her late boss Domenic Callea, who died from cancer last year.

“When Domenic passed away, I wanted to do something that would make a difference,” Ms Fullwood said.

“I knew that I’d have to do something extreme to get people to put their hands into their pockets and start donating.”

Ms Fullwood said she had been surprised by the reaction and support she had received since announcing her intention to shave it all off.

“One of my friends did it last year and another one a few years before that … I saw how much money they managed to raise and I thought they were so brave and it was amazing seeing them do it.

“There’s nothing stopping me from doing the same thing … money that you can raise will make such a big difference.

“I thought it would be a bit daunting, having no hair, but at the end of the day I’m shaving it off for a good cause so I figured I’ll just be proud of it and if anyone asks, I’ll just tell them what I did.”
