Premier too busy to meet committee

Dan Andrews

The Committee for Wyndham has expressed disappointment after Premier Daniel Andrews declined an invitation to meet them before this year’s state election.

The committee last week issued a statement which said they were disappointed Mr Andrews had turned down the invitation, due to his existing commitments before the November 24 election.

The committee’s chairman Peter Mayall said they had offered to host a lunch with the premier so he could meet business and community leaders from Wyndham.

“We want Wyndham to be acknowledged at the highest level,” Mr Mayall said.

“Wyndham has overtaken Geelong in population size and continues to be the fastest growing region in Australia.”

The committee has also invited Opposition Leader Matthew Guy to meet with them before the election, but is yet to hear back.

The Committee for Wyndham is a membership-based association which brings together business and community organisations to advocate for Wyndham.

Both the state government and the opposition were contacted for comment.
