The Werribee Police Station was temporarily closed yesterday, after an officer returned a positive COVID-19 test.

Radio station 3AW has reported the re-opened early this morning, after being shut for a deep clean.

According to 3AW, the station was shut for cleaning after a police officer tested positive to the coronavirus after feeling unwell while on planned leave. The officer has not been at work since June 21.

Six other police officers, who have had contact with the infected officer during the past fortnight, will go into self-isolation and be tested for COVID-19.

The 3AW story said that inquiries are being made to determine whether members of the public came into contact with the police officer while they were contagious.
