Police lay charges following bus robbery

A 15-year-old boy was allegedly kicked in the head during a robbery on a bus between Bundoora and South Morang last night.

A Tarneit teenager was charged after a 15-year-old boy was allegedly kicked in the head during a robbery on a bus last night (May 31).

A 15-year-old from Tarneit has been charged with robbery and obtain financial advantage by deception. He has been bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

A 16-year-old from Werribee was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released. He is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

An 18-year-old from Moonee Ponds has been charged with robbery, obtain financial advantage by deception and possess prescribed drug. He has been bailed to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates Court on September 30.

Detectives have been told the boy boarded the bus on Plenty Road, Bundoora, before he took his seat and was then allegedly kicked to the back of the head by a male.

Two other males then made threats and demanded his phone and watch.

The trio got off the bus at South Morang railway station with the stolen items before they allegedly contacted the victim’s mother where further demands for cash were made.

The teens were arrested at Lalor railway station after the victim reported the robbery to a local police station.
