Visitors to the Werribee Mansion will be able to get a glimpse into the past during the upcoming Open House Westside event.

More than 20 buildings in the western suburbs will be open to the public during the Open House weekend on July 27 and 28.

Parks Victoria’s heritage partnerships manager, Paul Roser, said there would be plenty for families and children to do at Werribee Mansion during the two days.

“Our staff and volunteers are excited to throw open the doors to the mansion during Open House Melbourne and share their historic and architectural knowledge with visitors,” Mr Roser said.

“During the Open House Melbourne weekend, visitors will have the rare opportunity to enter Werribee Mansion for free and experience the grandeur of the heritage-listed building and surrounding park.

“The main attraction is the mansion, with self-guided entry available from 10am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.”

Mr Roser said guided tours of the mansion’s formal gardens would also run throughout the weekend, showcasing the lake, grotto and heritage-listed trees, with pre-bookings essential.

“There will be musical performances throughout the weekend and the café will be open, selling light food and beverages,” he said.
