Wyndham council’s free Park Lounge event will return to Kelly Park this summer as part of Melbourne’s annual Midsumma Festival.

Council said the event, to be held on Saturday, February 4 2023 celebrates queer culture and expression and will feature a line-up of LGBTQIA+ performances including dance, music, comedy and theatre.

Wyndham council’s creative portfolio holder Marcel Mahfoud said that the event had become a much-loved feature on Wyndham City’s annual event calendar.

“Park Lounge is an inclusive, fun and family-friendly event that creates a real buzz in our city centre each year,” Councillor Mahfoud said.

“The new line-up will feature comedian Geraldine Hickey, performances from The Huxleys, Arcoiris Dance Group, and Pride of Footscray’s iconic DRAG Bingo.

“As the sun goes down, there will also a terrific line up of live music, dance and DJ tunes with Sullivan, Clara Fable, Tanzer, The People of Cabaret and Miss Katalyna.

“Since the event began as a rainbow family picnic back in 2012, we’re very proud to see how it’s grown, 10 years on, into a wonderful celebration of LGBTQIA+ visibility and diversity.

Residents can pick up dinner from a food truck or enjoy an ice-cream.

Council said the event is family and dog friendly and tickets are not required.
