Young Wyndham people turned up the volume on their school holidays last week.

The On Track school holiday program at Tarneit P-9 College wrapped up on Friday when students mixed with expert musicians and industry specialists.

Project co-ordinator Alie Pickin said it was the third time the On Track program had been run.

“On Track is a truly inspiring program that brings students together to connect through the power of music,” Ms Pickin said.

“The kids are really excited and hopefully they will find a new way to express themselves through a creative outlet and kick start them into the music industry.”

The free program, supported by music company Mushroom Group, includes specialist DJ classes where students learn how to spin with internationally touring DJs and guest speakers giving advice about breaking into the music industry in Australia.

Students also write, rap and perform their own music in the hip hop classes.
