Mums are big business

Mum’s the word in Werribee this week, as businesses begin to prepare Mother’s Day.

The Wyndham Business and Tourism Association, supported by Wyndham council, has organised a special contest in the lead-up to the big day on May 14.

More than 20 traders in Werribee’s city centre are taking part in the competition, which will run until May 11.

Shoppers who spend $50 or more at participating businesses will go in the draw to win one of the three pamper packs for their mothers.

The packs include a night on the town, a health and wellbeing package and a makeover hamper.

The business association’s vice-chairwoman Tonia Tribe, who also owns the Tonia T Boutique on Watton Street, said Werribee offered plenty of choice for those looking for the perfect Mother’s Day gift.

“People who come here are going to find products they aren’t going to see anywhere else,” she said.

“We have a beautiful selection of fashion boutiques, shoes and florists.”

Wyndham council’s future focused economy portfolio holder, Cr Walter Villagonzalo, encouraged residents to get involved with the Mother’s Day draw.

The winners of the contest will be drawn on May 12 and announced on the Wyndham Business and Tourism Association’s Facebook page.
