Children will enjoy an artistic twist on a festival tradition at Saltwater Community Centre in Point Cook next week.

Some Asian communities celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the moon or lantern festival, to mark the end of harvest and the fullest moon of the year, about September 24.

One of the festival’s traditional activities is the sharing and eating of round mooncakes.

Point Cook resident Phebe Yeo, who runs a multicultural education business called 8Senses, will host two sessions at the Saltwater centre for children to make play-doh mooncakes on September 27.

The first session, for children aged between three and five, will be held between 11am to 12.30pm. A parent or guardian will be required to stay with their children for this session. The second session, for children aged between five and 12, will run from 1.30 to 3pm. The Saltwater Community Centre is located at 153 Saltwater Promenade, Point Cook.

Prices to take part in one of the workshops start at $3 and bookings are required for the workshops.
