Melodies prove a hit

The songs of Petula Clark set the mood for the Morning Melodies music series which recently opened to an audience of more than 200 people.

The series, held at Encore Events Centre, includes a stellar line-up and was kickstarted by acclaimed cabaret singer Melissa Langton, performing The Songs of Petula Clark.

Next week, Australian country and rock and roll superstar Jade Hurley will be singing well-known favourites including

Peggy Sue, Old Time Rock and Roll and Great Balls of Fire.

Wyndham arts, culture and heritage portfolio holder Tony Hooper encouraged residents to come along to Morning Melodies and enjoy the opportunity to meet others.

“It’s great to see this series being hosted at our Encore Events Centre,” Cr Hooper said.

“Jade Hurley, who is regarded as one of Australia’s music and entertainment icons, will perform crowd favourites on Tuesday, October 8. In November we have the multi award-winning vocalist and songwriter, Nina Ferro, paying tribute with the songs for the great Ella Fitzgerald.

“We also have something very special lined up in December, where the season will be closed out with acclaimed cabaret singers Melissa Langton and Mark Jones coming to town with a good dose of Christmas cheer.”

The Morning Melodies series, which includes morning tea, will be held on the second Tuesday of each month and tickets are $12.
