A festival will be lighting up Federation Trail in Williams Landing and Truganina next month.

The Trail of Lights, which will be staged along the trail between Sayers Road and Skeleton Creek and into the Wyndham Waters wetlands, will run from September 20 to 28.

The lantern and light festival will feature installations by Wyndham artists, lanterns made by community members and decorative lighting illuminating the trail route.

In the lead-up to the festival, residents, schools and other groups are making lanterns to install along the trail.

The festival’s launch event will include a welcome to country ceremony, performances, a lion dance, food trucks, a lantern parade and inflatable art.

The festival, of which the Williams Landing Estate Residents Association is a project partner, last year received $153,500 in funding from Pick My Project.

Organisers are seeking submissions of photos and videos to be exhibited, via projection, along Federation Trail during the event.

Organisers are also seeking volunteers to help out during the festival.

See trailoflights.org.au to submit an artwork or apply for a volunteer role.
