A free Sleep and Settling Program will be run for Wyndham parents from this month.

Wyndham council’s child family health and wellbeing team will host the program, to give families the opportunity to learn about how their baby’s sleep changes over time and tips and strategies on how to settle youngsters as they get older.

Mayor Adele Hegedich said the Sleep and Settling Program would offer an evidence-based approach to infant and child sleep settling issues.

“The free Sleep and Settling Program will ensure that parents have access to the information and support they need without the need to travel outside of Wyndham,” Cr Hegedich said.

“Sessions will be facilitated by fully trained maternal and child health nurses and child and family resource officers.”

Cr Hegedich said the program will initially be delivered via online evening and Saturday morning sessions.

“The program will then be expanded to include face-to-face daytime sessions in June,” she said.

“We also have an outreach component of the program which has been designed to provide additional support to those families who continue to have sleep issues after attending one of the sessions.

“Families who qualify for the outreach program will be provided with up to six hours of intensive tailored information and support in their own home.”

The session times will be varied to enable all family members to attend.
