Soccer, softball and special fitness sessions for seniors are some of the activities on offer during Wyndham council’s annual Healthy and Active Expo.

The festival, which will run until October 13, includes more than 125 free sports and wellbeing activities for residents.

Wyndham’s sports development portfolio holder Cr Peter Maynard said participating in the expo would help people looking to kickstart their fitness regime, increase their exercise levels or discover a new sport.

“As well as enjoying improved fitness, the social and fun environment of these events can help forge new friendships in the community,” Cr Maynard said.

“Sessions cater for all different age groups including toddlers (2 to 5 years), children (5 to 12 years), youth (12 to 17 years), adults (18 to 60 years) and seniors (over 60 years) and the programs are designed for all experience and fitness levels.”

Cr Maynard said sports and fitness sessions would run at Eagle Stadium, AquaPulse and several council sporting reserves, including the newly developed Williams Landing Reserve, where soccer, cricket and tennis will be on offer for children. Places will be limited so bookings are essential. See www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/healthyandactiveexpo to make booking.
