Volunteer groups receive neighbourhood grants

Point Cook CFA and the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard are among 30 groups across the Wyndham region to share in $30,000 of Williams Landing neighbourhood grants.

Point Cook CFA will receive $2000 to purchase six eflare beacons to be mounted on their trucks and vehicles. Eflare beacons create a highly visible warning, or safety zone, by flashing brightly and ensuring greater safety around emergency incidents.

The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard VF10 Werribee received $2000 to buy a new anchor winch for its primary vessel.

Other recipients include Wyndham Leaders of the Future, Wyndham Community and Education Centre, and Point Cook Soccer Club.

Patrick Archer, development director of Cedar Woods Properties, who co-ordinates the neighbourhood grants program, said the grants were a way of giving back and acknowledging the hard work that goes into creating a supportive community.

“The winners all demonstrated a real passion for their cause in their applications,” Mr Archer said.

“[This allowed] them to stand out from the many applications we received.”
