Seven groups in the Werribee electorate will receive a grant from the Victorian Multicultural Festivals and Events program.

Werribee MP Tim Pallas said the program gave funding to events which helped to celebrate multicultural communities and foster cross-cultural awareness, understanding and respect.

The Wyndham Community and Education Centre, the Maharashtra Businesses and Professionals Council Australia, Tamu Samaj Victoria and the Weerama Festival Committee, will each receive $10,000 from the program.

The Le Petrel Mauritian Seniors Club will get $7500 in funding and Wyndham Park Primary School will receive $2000.

The Persian Hope Community, started by sisters Mina and Noushin Barghi last year, will receive $6850. The group provides excursions and activities such as guest speakers and sessions for job-seekers, women and children.
