Angela, Henry and Lily are ensuring that Santa’s reindeer will have plenty of room to land at their house on Christmas Eve.

Along with other residents living in the Woodville area of Hoppers Crossing, the siblings’ parents have installed a sign reading “Be Aware Reindeer Landing” in their garden.

Many Woodville households, who have decorated their properties for the festive season, have erected the signs in their front yards.

The signs encourage passing pedestrians to make a donation to a Christmas appeal being run by the Werribee Hospital Foundation (WHF), and even feature QR code allowing the donation to occur on the spot via a mobile phone.

The WHF appeal is raising money to buy a new piece of equipment for the Werribee Mercy Hospital’s Paediatric Ward, an AccuVein.

AccuVein is medical imagining technology which gives health carers the ability to see veins beneath the skin’s surface, radically reducing the margin of error in cannula insertion.

A statement from the Woodville Residents group said the Reindeer Landing signs were part of efforts the Office of Gift Delivery – as part of the North Pole Civil Aviation Authority – is putting in place across Wyndham to help Santa make COVID-safe deliveries.

The signs cost $14, with $10 going to the WHF Appeal and the rest to sign production.

The signs can be purchased by emailing Andrew at woodville3029residents@gmail.com.

Payment can be made via Paypal, pay ID or cash on delivery.
