Werribee actor Kelley Kerr Young will star in a cabaret about the perils of dating, relationships, marriage and other life quandaries next month at the Chapel Off Chapel theatre.

Presented by the independent theatre company Red Brassiere, the “second season” of First Wives Pub will feature songs by artists such as Amy Winehouse, The Divinyls and Cyndi Lauper.

When the show originally debuted at The Butterfly Club theatre, it ran for under an hour, but Kerr Young said the new venue meant the production could run for longer. She said the new, extended version included more songs and music, and showed how the characters met.

In addition to being part of the cast, Kerr Young is producing the show alongside writer and director Haylee Deutrom Wakeling.

“It’s a really cool show, everyone can enjoy it, but it has an undertone of real issues that don’t hammer you over the head,” Kerr Young said.

“The show is a lot of fun if you don’t mind a little bit of swearing, it’s a fun night out and it doesn’t necessarily end the way you would expect.”

First Wives Pub will be on November 1 to 3 (Friday and Saturday 7.30pm and Sunday 6pm) at Chapel Off Chapel, 12 Little Chapel St, Prahran. Tickets: full $38, concession $35, group of 10 or more $30 each (transaction fee not included). Book: chapeloffchapel.com.au/show/first-wives-pub/
